Union Special GmbH

In the year 1901 UNION SPECIAL Maschinenfabrik GmbH was founded as a first European branch of an American company in Europe - 20 years after the foundation of the UNION SPECIAL CORPORATION in Chicago / USA . To be able to react to a constantly increasing and expanding market a factory was established in 1921 at the Schwabstrasse in the city of Stuttgart and in 1963 an additional site of production was opened in Hemmingen, at the outskirts of Ludwigsburg .At the very beginning UNION SPECIAL already recognized the importance of a well functioning net of customer sales- and after-sales services. As early as 1930 branches existed in most European countries. Today UNION SPECIAL has a world wide net of representatives and after sales service centers. In 1988 UNION SPECIAL GmbH was incorporated into JUKI CORPORATION, Tokyo , an ideal supplement of both production programs. This joint company has thus become the largest sales organization for industrial sewing machines with the widest product range on the world market.

In 1993 the complete production was concentrated at the main company in Chicago / Illinois . UNION SPECIAL GmbH moved from Stuttgart to Möglingen and restructured into a sales organization - the so-called 'European Distribution Center' (EDC) - responsible for the markets of East- and West-Europe, Near East, Africa and for the bag equipment also India.In 1999 the shares of UNION SPECIAL GmbH were bought by the new shareholders: Arno Briegel (Managing Director - since May 01, 2004 Consultant), Christiane Huber (Director Finance - since May 01, 2004 Consultant of Finance & Controlling), Rolf Iseler (Senior Director Marketing & Sales - since May 01, 2004 Managing Director Marketing & Sales) and Günter Löffler (Director Operations - since May 01, 2004 Managing Director Operations & Personnel).

In spite of all these changes the employees of UNION SPECIAL GmbH have not been losing sight of their main concern: customers and their needs. The main principles of UNION SPECIAL have still remained the same since the foundation of the enterprise: production and sales of sewing machines and automated units for the clothing industry comprising some 1200 different styles and sub-classes. The major objective of our programme are sewing machines for knitwear and Jeans, machines for sewing and closing bags, machines for producing Container bags (for up to 3.000 kg capacity) as well as special machines for carpets, nets and geo-textiles. After the transfer of the production to USA in the year 1993 only a small production of special parts remained at GmbH. These parts - or folders - are made or modified in our Quick Response department.   The basic machines we still get from Union Special Corp. /Huntley. Some of them we sell as they are and some others we modify according to our customers needs in our adjusting department.  In order to offer to our customers an optimal service we manage in our stock app. 30.000 different spare parts and several hundreds different machine styles. Today we are capable to deliver spare parts within 24 hours and machines within a few days.   Union Special GmbH has well-trained and experienced sewing technicians who are traveling most of their time in foreign countries in order to install, service and repair machines or to offer advisory and maintenance service to our customers. Furthermore they carry out training courses for the technicians of our distributors and customers.
