MULTIVAC helps its Japanese customers

24/08/2011

MULTIVAC is supporting victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan with a donation of 20,000 Euros. Among those affected by the damage are also customers of MULTIVAC's Japanese subsidiary. These customers' production halls, including the packaging machines located within them, were either partially or totally destroyed by the catastrophe. The packaging specialist from the Allgäu region would like to give these companies a further helping hand with a wide range of measures.

"The damage is catastrophic. Our customers' production halls are either partially or completely destroyed. With some of the thermoforming packaging machines the machine frames were broken. Other machines were torn out of their anchor points by the force of the tidal wave and pushed through the production hall. The electrics of these machines were also completely destroyed, so they can no longer be used", reports Eckard Mittmann. In July the MULTIVAC Sales Director travelled throughout the crisis region, in order to form a picture on site and to talk with the factory managers of five customer companies, which are located on the North East coast of Japan and which were directly affected on the 11. March 2011 by the serious earthquake and the tsunami wave. MULTIVAC is now supporting them and others affected by the damage with a donation of 20,000 Euros.

"We have given the donation to our local Japanese colleagues and asked them to use it to support customer companies, which have suffered severe damage, or charitable organisations," says Mittmann: some company employees and their relatives were among the victims of the catastrophe.

In order to help its Japanese customers to rebuild production quickly, MULTIVAC will handle future orders from Japan with special priority - irrespective of whether they are for machines, retrofits or spare parts. "We will serve our Japanese customers with the best possible delivery schedules", promises Mittmann. That also applies if bottlenecks with the supply of film were to arise.
