UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA: 23,000 trade visitors at trade fairs in Moscow
12/02/2007
Since packaging is playing a significant role on the growing Russian market, interest in innovative technologies and materials for its production is particularly keen. The constantly rising expectations among consumers as regards products and their presentation are particularly evident in the food industry, confectionery market, cosmetic sector and pharmaceutical industry. To improve their market positions and technical standing in line with imported products, packaging manufacturers in the Russian Federation are investing. Added to substantial demand for packaging materials, the result has been the expansion and upgrade of Russian plants.
This gratifying conclusion was reached by exhibitors at UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA, the International Trade Fair Machinery and Equipment for the Manufacture of Packaging, Packaging Machinery, Confectionery Machinery, Packaging and Packaging Aids, Logistics. The trade fair for packaging technology and concurrently staged INTERPLASTICA 2007, International Trade Fair Plastics and Rubber, attracted 23,000 trade visitors from Russia and its neighbouring countries. Attendance was just short of the excellent figures achieved at the previous event in December 2005. UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA opened its doors at the Moscow trade fair complex, ZAO Expocentr in Krasnaya Presnya, for the 15th time from 30 January to 2 February. The event was coordinated by Messe Düsseldorf in cooperation with its Russian subsidiary OOO Messe Düsseldorf Moscow and Italian event organiser Centrexpo.
More than anything else, new technologies had the strongest pull on visitors. The calibre of targeted queries relating to machinery and packaging was not only commensurate with that of the previous event but also revealed that many of those at the UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA stands had come intending to make specific investments. Company representatives emphasised that thanks above all to customers’ extensive decision-making powers, many deals were closed on the spot.
The 350 international exhibitors who presented their products and services on a net exhibition space of 7,000 square metres provided a comprehensive overview of the market. Germany, France and Italy stepped out with officially backed participations. The largest exhibitor contingents after the host country’s 120 companies were from Germany and Italy, each represented by 87 companies showcased on a net exhibition area of about 4,000 square metres.
The exhibitors’ offerings at UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA 2007 were rounded out by a specialist ancillary programme that was warmly received. A seminar held on the topic of innovation in packaging technology saw German, Italian and Russian experts outline trends and discuss them in the light of sample applications. Another series of talks was dedicated to large retail chains’ requirements regarding packaging. A new addition to the trade fair was a special information point where anyone who had come to UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA with a packaging problem was provided with expert advice. The palette of services was completed with a job market and a contact exchange for initiating business relationships.
The next UPAKOVKA/UPAK ITALIA will once again be staged in tandem with INTERPLASTICA, the International Trade Fair Plastics and Rubber, at Moscow’s ZAO Expocentr trade fair complex in Krasnaya Presnya from 29 January to 1 February 2008.
