iF packaging award 2011

2011 will be all about packaging again: after its successful debut in 2008, the iF packaging award will again be held at the interpack trade fair (12 -18 May 2011). Registration is now open.
The cooperation will continue between iF and the Duesseldorf exhibition center who present the interpack trade fair. interpack showcases the latest processes and packaging trends in the areas of foodstuffs and beverages, sweets and bakery products, harmaceuticals and cosmetics, nonfood and consumer goods, and industrial goods. In 2011, developers, manufacturers and designers of all kinds of packaging and packaging materials, packaging graphics and packaging machines will again be able to demonstrate their excellence in design and technology. Registration for the iF packaging award 2011 is now open.
"Even in its first year, the iF packaging award showed how important this subject is for both professionals and the interested public. Packaging also means sustainability, resource management and innovation seen from the perspective of design. With the Duesseldorf exhibition center and interpack, we have an extremely competent partner and we are delighted that our cooperation will be continued for the upcoming interpack 2011," says iF Managing Director Ralph Wiegmann.
The iF packaging award 2011 will be judged by international experts in six categories:
01. sales packaging
02. display + transport packaging
03. packaging graphics
04. packaging materials
05. packaging machines / equipment
06. packaging concepts
Evaluation criteria comprise design quality, finish, choice of material, degree of innovation, environmental impact, functionality,ergonomics, visualization of intended use, safety, brand value/ branding, symbolism and independence, aspects of production and logistics and universal design.
The award winners will receive the coveted iF label, a seal of design excellence. The best entries in the competition will be honored with the iF gold award for outstanding achievements. The iF gold awards will be announced at the awards ceremony and the gold award winners will receive the golden iF sculpture. All award-winning entries will be on display in a special exhibition at interpack
(12 - 18 May 2011). The exhibition will be complemented by a documentation and by the iF online exhibition, both reflecting the state of the art in international packaging design.
Registration for the iF packaging award 2011 will be open until 3 December 2010.
